Nuevo Jardín Tintóreo *** New Dyeing Garden – Una de nuestras grandes ilusiones siempre ha sido crear un jardín tintóreo con el que potenciar nuestra labor investigadora, obtener materias colorantes naturales de acuerdo a los principios de la permacultura y dotar a nuestros talleres de un recurso educativo tan excepcional. Y es que, aparte del disfrute de sembrar las semillas, ver cómo se desarrolla la planta e interactúa con el Entorno, hay muchas plantas que no crecen de forma silvestre y si quieres experimentar con ellas debes cultivarlas. Hasta la fecha lo que veníamos haciendo era cultivar en el huerto plantas tintóreas (ornamentales y aromáticas) aprovechando sus propiedades insectífugas para evitar el uso de insecticidas y fungicidas; y por supuesto, aprovechando su poder colorante una vez terminada la temporada de huerto.
One of the illusions we always had was to grow our own dye garden, both to enhance our efforts on the research on the natural dye stuffs, as well as to serve as an educational complement to our workshops and courses and as an oportunity to produce our own natural dyes in accordance with the principles of permaculture. The fact is that there are many plants that do not grow wild and must be cultivated. Until this point, what we were doing was grow native dye plants (ornamental, aromatic), taking advantage of their insectífugous properties to avoid the use of insecticides and fungicides; of course, using their colouring power after the cultivation season.
Pero ha llegado el momento de darle todo protagonismo a los tintes naturales ya que se han convertido en el motor de nuestras vidas e hilo conductor de nuestros proyectos (Mundo Lanar, Ecolorgy y Tinctórea). Toca pues sacrificar parte del huerto o, mejor dicho, complementar la autosuficiencia alimentaria con la textil. Iremos compartiendo el paso a paso de este proyecto tintóreo que albergará infinidad de variedades y que a buen seguro nos dará la escusa perfecta para entrar a hablar en profundidad acerca de las propiedades tintóreas de todas y cada una de estas plantas! ¿Os gusta el plan? Las fotos muestran el estado actual del huerto-jardín (huellas de ciervos y jabalíes incluídas), del que ya se están apoderando no pocas variedades tintóreas que por supuesto dejaremos que se reproduzcan a su anchas! Ha llegado la hora de mimarlas!
But now is time to give more prominence to the natural dyes as they have become the real engine of our lives and the «core believe» of our three projects (Mundo Lanar, Ecolorgy and Tinctorea). So what a better moment to sacrify part of our garden for such a good thing or, better said, to complement the food self-sufficiency with the obtaining of colors to produce natural textiles. We will be glad to share the step a step of this project which will contain countless varieties of dye plants, that will give us the perfect excuse to enter to talk in depth about the dyeing properties of each and every one of these plants! Do you like the idea? The pictures show the current state of the garden (including prints of deers and wild boars), where many dye plants are already growing in their wild form and we will let them grow freely, to allow them spread!
