Esté o no de moda el azul, teñir con índigo es de las cosas que más nos molan. Y aprovechando que hoy domingo ha hecho un día estupendo, nos hemos ido al chill-pajar con todos los bártulos para disfrutar tiñendo al aire libre, antes de que vengan otra vez las nieves y toque pasar el día junto a la chime. Aparte teníamos varios baños tintóreos acumulados que había ganas de reciclar. Lo bueno de teñir con índigo es que los baños aguantan varios meses y añadiendo unos «polvitos mágicos» y esperando el ratito de rigor, están otra vez listos para volver a teñir.
Dyeing with indigo is one of the things that we like most, no matter if the blue color is fashionable or not. That´s why today, taking advantage of the nice weather, we decided go to outside with all our gear to enjoy dyeing the whole day outdoor, especially before that the snow comes again and we are forced to spend the day by the fireplace. It has been a real Índigo sunday. The other reason for this is that we had accumulated several indigo dye baths that we wanted to recycle. The good thing is that indigo dye baths can be kept for several months. To recover it you just need to add some «magic powder» and wait for some minutes. Simple and practical.
Lana
Y como justo esta semana nos han llegado las nuevas lanas orgánicas 100% merino, nos apetecía hacer las pruebas de teñido para darles nuestro visto bueno definitivo. Y es que no todas las lanas son aptas para teñir ya que algunas tienden a afieltrarse y otras no cogen todo el color que debieran. Así que estamos contentos porque con estas lanas los resultados han sido muy positivos en ambos sentidos. Y de hecho nos hemos sorprendido con la intensidad, el brillo y luminosidad de los azules que han salido.
Wool
And as we have just received our new organic merino wool, we were very interested to do the dyeing tests to give it our final approval. This is because not all wools are suitable for dyeing, insofar some tend to felting and some to not catch all the color they should. So we are pleased with these wools because the results have been very positive in both senses. In fact we have been surprised with the intensity, brightness and lightness resulting.
Algodoneando
Y en vistas de que se acerca la primavera hemos aprovechado para hacer unas pruebas de teñido sobre algodón y seda, que son dos de nuestras fibras favoritas. Y es que, aparte de la lana, nos encanta explorar el apasionante mundo de las fibras naturales y animar a la gente a descubrirlas ya que su variedad es amplísima y ofrecen enormes posibilidades textiles.
Cotton time
And in anticipation of that spring approaches we also wanted to do some tests on cotton and silk, which are two of the fibers with which we also like to work insofar we are fascinated for exploring the exciting world of the natural fibers. And simply because their variety is huge and offers incredible textile possibilities, we enjoy encouraging people to discover them.
