Aparte de que da unos colores maravillosos, es de las pocas materias tint\u00f3reas que <strong>se sigue produciendo a escala local<\/strong>. Por eso, salvo a la hora de hablar de sus or\u00edgenes, ya que no es aut\u00f3ctona del archipi\u00e9lago, nos centraremos en la \u00abcochinilla canaria\u00bb pues all\u00ed sabemos que <strong>se produce de forma sustentable y favoreciendo al Desarrollo Local<\/strong>. Adem\u00e1s de emplearse para te\u00f1ir fibras naturales, es la fuente natural del carm\u00edn, se utiliza en reposter\u00eda para dar color a postres y confituras, y como colorante en bebidas alcoh\u00f3licas. Y aunque es un tinte muy actual, <strong>sus propiedades eran conocidas por mayas y aztecas, quienes lo empleaban como impuesto, moneda de trueque, cosm\u00e9tico y tinte natural<\/strong>. En lengua ind\u00edgena n\u00e1huatl los aztecas la llamaban \u201cnocheztli\u201d, que significa <span style=\"color: #c90256;\"><strong>\u00abSANGRE DE TUNA\u00bb<\/strong><\/span> por el intenso color rojo de su colorante, gracias a su alto contenido en <span style=\"color: #9c074e;\"><strong>\u00c1CIDO CARM\u00cdNICO<\/strong><\/span>. Tambi\u00e9n conoc\u00edan las propiedades mordientes del alumbre y de la madera de tezhuat para fijar el color. Los vivos colores de las prendas que hoy d\u00eda se conservan de estas culturas son la mejor prueba de ello!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/La1xKAYSTOo?&amp;rel=0&amp;controls=0\" height=\"375\" width=\"570\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #629324;\">El \u00abcultivo\u00bb de la cochinilla<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por suerte y apesar del empuje de la industria de los tintes qu\u00edmicos y el BAJ\u00d3N  que dieron los tintes naturales desde que se logr\u00f3 sintetizarlos qu\u00edmicamente -TENDENCIA QUE ESTAMOS TRATANDO DE REVERTIR- <strong>todav\u00eda se sigue \u00abcultivando\u00bb de forma sustentable<\/strong>, aunque a muy peque\u00f1a escala comparado con los tiempos en que era un verdadero pilar para la econom\u00eda de las islas. La pena es que desde mediados del SXX  (y muy especialmente desde los a\u00f1os 80) se ha venido produciendo un abandono progresivo de las fincas de tuneras destinadas a la producci\u00f3n de cochinilla y con ello la p\u00e9rdida de muchos de los saberes que se iban transmitiendo de generaci\u00f3n en generaci\u00f3n. <strong>La incansable labor divulgativa de personas como nuestro amigo Juan Cazorla y de la Asociaci\u00f3n Milana A QUI\u00c9N VA DEDICADO ESTE POST nos abren caminos muy esperanzadores!<\/strong>. En funci\u00f3n de todas estas variables, con la cochinilla podemos obtener <strong>desde tonos viol\u00e1ceos y fucsias, hasta naranjas, rojos y rosas de gran brillo y luminosidad<\/strong>, en una amplia gama de tonos, matices y sombras.
