Este s\u00e1bado hemos participado en un taller de Tintes Naturales en el Real Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico de Madrid impartido por Julia y Meri, dos educadoras s\u00faper majas que contagian el entusiasmo con el que viven la experiencia del color y transmiten sus conocimientos tint\u00f3reos<\/strong>. Y es que no hay nada como estar siempre receptivos a nuevos conocimientos e ideas, ya que en esto de los colorantes naturales nunca se deja de aprender, quiz\u00e1s porque cada maestrillo tiene su librillo y no existen recetas universales sino pr\u00e1cticas y conocimientos que se van adquiriendo con a\u00f1os de experimentar e investigar. Y aunque el d\u00eda estuvo lluvioso y no pudimos salir a interpretar algunas de las plantas tint\u00f3reas que atesora este incre\u00edble jard\u00edn de varias hect\u00e1reas y hogar de m\u00e1s de 5000 especies, la sesi\u00f3n te\u00f3rico pr\u00e1ctica de interior estuvo genial!<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Saturday we participated in a workshop on Natural Dyes taught by two educators from the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid<\/strong>, Julia and Meri, whose enthusiasm on transmitting their knowledge is fantastic. And although we have been years working on the issue, there’s nothing like being receptive to new knowledge and ideas from other dyers since you never stop learning. And this is because each dyer develops own methods and recipes. What a great truth is that universal dyeing practices does not exist. And though the was a rainy day and we couldn\u00b4t go out to interpretate some of the dye plants that live in this amazing garden of several acres and home to over 5000 species, we had a wonderful time at indoor<\/strong>. Muestrario de colores!<\/h3>\n

Una de las cosas que m\u00e1s nos maravill\u00f3 fue tener en nuestras manos el \u00abMuestrario de Tintes Naturales\u00bb<\/strong> del Real Jard\u00edn Bot\u00e1nico<\/strong><\/a> elaborado por Ana Roquero y Carmen C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong> a quienes aprovechamos la ocasi\u00f3n para felicitar por este magn\u00edfico desplegable en el que podemos contemplar una extraordinaria gama de colores sobre lana, obtenidos con algunos de los tintes naturales m\u00e1s destacados y que incluye la referencia del tinte, mordientes y modificadores empleados. Un trabajo de incalculable valor que es posible consultar en la biblioteca del bot\u00e1nico a pesar de que existe un \u00fanico ejemplar. Qu\u00e9 duda cabe que se trata de una joya de la investigaci\u00f3n tint\u00f3rea y que a buen seguro nos ayudar\u00e1 como fuente de inspiraci\u00f3n<\/strong> para la investigaci\u00f3n que venimos realizando para la consecuci\u00f3n de una paleta de colores local en el entorno del Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama.<\/p>\n

Colour sample book<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

One of the things that amazed us most was get our hands the \u00abSample Book of Natural Dyes\u00bb<\/strong> of the Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid<\/strong><\/a> created by Ana Roquero and Carmen C\u00f3rdoba<\/strong>, two dyers who we admire, to who we take advantage to congratulate. A gorgeous work to contemplate different ranges of colors on wool, obtained with some of the most outstanding natural dyes. And although it only includes the reference of the dye, mordants and modifiers used to get them, definitely this work is of great value and the result of years dedicated to investigation and experimentation. It can be found in the library of botanical. There is only one copy. Undoubtedly, this is a jewel of the natural dyeing research and will certainly help us as a source of inspiration<\/strong> for our local research, which aim is to achieve a palette of natural colors with the particularity to be circumscribed to the surroundings of the National Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aqu\u00ed os dejamos unas fotitos del taller de Julia y Meri a quienes siempre recordaremos ya que para nosotros es un placer escuchar y aprender de otros tintoreros y tintoreras. Despu\u00e9s de la parte te\u00f3rica \u2013que por cierto dieron de forma s\u00faper pedag\u00f3gica y entretenida\u2013 hicieron una pr\u00e1ctica con nogalina obtenida de macerar c\u00e1scaras de nueces<\/strong> (cuyas propiedades tint\u00f3reas hacen que no sea necesario emplear mordientes para garantizar la fijaci\u00f3n del color) y otra con lombarda<\/strong> (en cuyo caso s\u00ed es necesario emplearlos). Lo pasamos todos genial! Gracias chicas y gracias al Bot\u00e1nico por esta labor divulgativa tan importante! Volveremos!<\/p>\n

Here we leave you with some photos of the workshop taught by Julia and Meri, we will always remember fondly because for us it is a pleasure to listen and learn from other dyers. After the theoretical part which resulted so interesting, they made \u200b\u200ba dyeing practice with walnut<\/strong> (whose properties make unnecessary to use mordants to ensure color fastness) and another with red cabbage<\/strong> (in which you do need use them).
